Waking up in one of the most scenic areas along the East Coast is an absolute blessing. So why not treat yourself with an incredible coffee and breakfast! Start off by heading down to:
If you’re looking for an incredible brew and breakfast in Coffs Harbour, look no further than Cafe Aqua! Only a short 4 minute drive from the Diggers Beach Cottage will have you laughing with the amazing staff and eating some of the best tasting food! We highly recommend pairing a coffee with the classic big brekky.
Twenty46 is the place to be if you’re looking for a gourmet style breakfast, lunch and coffee in Coffs. Being pet and child friendly, you can bring the whole family for a morning feast. If you want to treat yourself, the waffles with nutella and caramelised banana is well worth the morning off.
Macauleys Headland Coastal Walk is just a stone throw away from our beautiful cottage and is the prime location for whale and dolphin watching. So don’t forget to bring the binoculars!
The paved walking track takes you through grassed areas and littoral forest to Macauleys Head at Diggers Beach. Just before Diggers Beach isa small cove with a stunning beach below. This is a special Aboriginal place and the rock that sits off the head is known to Gumbayngirr people as Gumgaliya or the ‘goanna place’.
The walk from Macauleys Headland to Charlesworth Bay is around 4.5km return allowing you to take your time, have a swim and enjoy the warm weather whilst keeping an eye out for any pods of whales or dolphins.
The Promised Lands is one of the best hidden gems around Bellingen! Within a couple of kilometres you will find the Never Never Creek that runs through all the little waterholes. Nature never disappoints and as such, the blue-green colour of the water is unbelievably fascinating (the photos below show the true colour of the Never Never Creek). This colour is caused by the flowing water over the minerals in the rocks underneath, leaving a distinct blue-green tint.
Spending a couple of hours here is a must. Take the time to listen to the surrounding birds, have a swim in the beautiful blue water and relax in the tranquillity of nature.
If you’re an avid fan of falafel, hummus and Israeli street food, Za’atar is certainly the lunch for you!
Za’atar is an authentic Middle Eastern restaurant that offers an array of colourful dishes that will leave you wanting more. We recommend trying multiple shared plates and dishes to feed the whole family.
Crystal Shower Falls walk is one of the most incredible tropical walks you can do around Coffs Harbour!
The Falls are located within the tropical mountain side of the Dorrigo National Park, which is surrounded by World Heritage listed rainforests and a wide range of wildlife. The walk to the falls is only a 3.5km return, which is around 25-30 minutes.
But don’t think that you’d be out so soon! The waterfall will have you walking under the spray and exploring the majestic rock shelter, giving you an incredible new perspective and meaning to the Crystal Shower Falls. Just be weary, the rocks surrounding waterfalls are slippery!
You do not want to miss out on Dangar Falls! You can view the stunning 30-metre waterfall from the newly built viewing platform at the top or by the walking trail leading to the river at the bottom of the falls. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon swim in the freshwater and if you are daring enough, swim behind the waterfall and view the mammoth falls from the rock shelter!
To end your adventurous day exploring the coast, you MUST have a Mediterranean dinner at Bruno’s in Bellingen! Brunos is tapas style with an incredible menu selection and well prepared specials. They will not disappoint! To finish the day off, be sure to relax with a cocktail in hand on the deck. We love and can not say no to the cucumber martini!
Qudo is an authentic Japanese restaurant situated in an old house, in the town of Bellingen. The food, including the kaarage chicken and seared salmon, are absolutely divine. And if you are looking for something a little sweet on the beverage side, look no further than the choya plum wine! The staff are really friendly and there is seating inside and outside, overlooking the beautiful Bellinger River.
